Anua tops a K-beauty specialist shelf and sits #65 at home.

Anua reaches more retail channels than any brand we track — 11 of 15. But reach flattens a brand into one number, and Anua's actual position swings from #1 of 94 at Skin Cupid to #65 of 100 at Olive Young Korea.

Note on this chart. We did not keep a frozen copy for 2026-W29, so it is drawing the latest archive week (2026-W37). The numbers in the text are the 2026-W29 figures and are the ones this piece argues from; where the chart differs, the chart is the newer week.

Correction — 2026-08-04.

What changed. This piece originally ran as “Anua is #1 in America.” Its two supporting ranks are Skin Cupid and Ulta — and Skin Cupid is a K-beauty specialist storefront, not a US mainstream retailer. “#1 in America” claimed more than those two shelves can carry, so the headline now names the shelves.

What we got wrong while correcting it. Earlier the same day we also withdrew the Ulta rank, having concluded Ulta's listing was not a ranking. That was our error — the check read the recommendation carousel above Ulta's grid rather than the grid, which is sorted by Best Sellers and held its top positions across twelve hours. The Ulta rank is reinstated.

What does not change. Anua is #1 of 94 on a Western K-beauty specialist shelf and #65 of 100 at Olive Young Korea in the same week, and it reaches more channels (11 of 15) than any brand we track.

Anua has the widest distribution on our charts: 11 of 15 live channels. Read that alone and you picture a brand winning everywhere. The passport view — where it actually stands inside each shelf — says something more interesting.

Top of the chart abroad, mid-pack at home

Anua is #1 of 94 at Skin Cupid and #1 of 66 at Ulta. On those two shelves it is the single best-selling Korean brand we can see.

At Olive Young Korea it is #65 of 100. On TikTok Shop, #80 of 100.

Same brand, same week. It is a top-2% placement on one shelf and a bottom-third placement on another.

What that pattern probably means

A brand can be built for a market it does not dominate at home. Anua's strength sits precisely where Western discovery happens — the K-beauty specialists and US prestige — while in Korea's own mass H&B ranking it competes against the full domestic field and lands mid-pack.

This is why we normalize by sample depth rather than compare raw ranks. #1 of 66 and #65 of 100 are not 64 places apart in any meaningful sense; they are a 2nd-percentile position and a 65th-percentile one.

The reading that would be wrong

Not "Anua is failing in Korea." A #65 slot in Olive Young's top 100 is still inside the top 100 of the country's largest health-and-beauty retailer — most brands never appear at all. The finding is about shape: Anua's distribution is wide, and its intensity is concentrated in Western specialist and prestige channels rather than in its home market.

What rank does not tell you. Rankings measure shelf position, not units sold or revenue. A #1 slot on a 66-row shelf and a #1 on a 195-row shelf are different achievements, which is why we always print #rank/sample. TikTok Shop position reflects that platform's own displayed ranking.

What we'll watch next

The passport becomes a time series from W30. The question it will answer: when a brand's home-market rank moves, does its US position follow — and with what lag? That lag, if it exists, is the single most useful number this archive can produce.

Receipt: every number above is checkable against the 2026-W29 archive · method on /methodology. ⚠ Corrected 2026-08-04 — headline narrowed to the shelves the data covers. A same-day withdrawal of the Ulta rank was itself mistaken and has been reversed; see the note at the top. Positions are from each channel's weekly top-ranking sample, depth top 20 to top 195. Rank measures shelf position, not units sold. Olive Young Global US reflects what US customers order from a Korean cross-border store — a discovery signal, not US retail availability.
