Korea's two big skincare shelves share just 16 brands

Korea has two very different places to buy skincare online: Olive Young, the beauty specialist, and Coupang, the everything store. Read their skincare best-seller lists side by side and they barely look like the same country — only 16 brands appear on both top 100s.

Skincare top 10 on Olive Young Korea (2026-W41) and Coupang (Oct 6 KST). Of 44 and 56 brands in each top 100, 16 appear on both.

Olive Young is where Korean shoppers go to browse beauty. Coupang is where they buy almost everything else, delivered overnight. Both publish skincare best-seller lists — and this week we read both.

Two lists, little overlap

Fact. Olive Young Korea's skincare top 100 this week spans 44 brands; Coupang's (captured Oct 6) spans 56. Only 16 brands appear on both. In the two top 10s, just two brands overlap: celimax and Dr.G. Observation. Four of Olive Young's top 10 brands — beplain, BIOHEAL BOH, BANILA CO and easydew — don't appear anywhere in Coupang's top 100.

What each shelf rewards

Olive Young's top is led by AESTURA's Atobarrier 365 Cream, followed by beplain, Torriden, Anua and BIOHEAL BOH. Coupang's is led by TONYMOLY's Ceramide Mochi Toner, and three of its top 10 slots go to Derma Factory — products named for a single active at a stated strength: niacinamide 20%, retinal 300ppm, tranexamic acid 6%. Coupang's top 10 also includes non-Korean brands (PHYSIOGEL twice, The Ordinary). Inference. The specialist shelf leans toward hero products from beauty brands; the everything store leans toward plainly labeled actives. "What Korea buys" depends on which store you read.

How to read this
