On October 3, three of the top four on Rakuten's beauty chart were Korean
Japan is a major market for Korean cosmetics, and Rakuten Ichiba is one of its largest online malls. On October 3, Rakuten's daily beauty ranking had a Korean brand at #1 — and two more at #3 and #4.
We've started reading Rakuten Ichiba's daily beauty ranking alongside our Korean and US shelves. It moves day to day, so we report single days — and October 3 stood out.
A Korean top of the chart
Fact. On Rakuten's beauty & cosmetics ranking for October 3, BIOHEAL BOH was #1, Sungboon Editor #3 and Beauty of Joseon #4. Observation. Two days later the top looked different: on October 5 the highest Korean brand was d'Alba at #6. A daily chart is a snapshot, and Rakuten's Shopping Marathon sale began on October 4, which can reshuffle rankings.
The same names, three markets
BIOHEAL BOH is also in Olive Young Korea's skincare top five this week. Sungboon Editor is #1 on TikTok Shop's US skincare list and has four listings on Target's best-sellers. Inference. A handful of Korean brands are now near the top in Seoul, Tokyo and American online shelves at the same time — which is a different story from K-beauty being popular in general.
How to read this
Rakuten's ranking is per shop listing, not brand market share, and it's a single day. Korean = brands in our Korean-brand ledger. We don't count "how many" Korean listings yet: our brand matching for Japanese listings is still being checked. Product names aren't shown because Rakuten titles include coupon and price text.
