26% or 50% of TikTok Shop is K-beauty? Both, this week.

You have seen the stat: "K-beauty is X% of TikTok Shop." This week that number is 26% — and also 50%. Same platform, same seven days, same method. The only thing that changed was whether the category was all of beauty or skincare alone, and the K-beauty share nearly doubled.

26% → 50%
K-beauty's share of TikTok Shop's top 100 nearly doubles when you filter from all beauty to skincare only

#3 → #1
the skincare best-seller sits at just #3 once you widen the view to all beauty
Two side-by-side TikTok Shop best-seller lists for the same week, 2026-W34. K-beauty makes up 26% of the All Beauty & Personal Care top 100 but 50% of the Skincare-only top 100. All Beauty top five: #1 medicube Smooth & Clear Body Care Set (not in the other list), #2 Bellavita Honey Oud perfume, #3 Dr.Melaxin Calcium Dark Spot Eye, #4 Dr.Melaxin Gifted Collagen, #5 medicube NAD+ EGF Serum. Skincare-only top five: #1 Dr.Melaxin Calcium Dark Spot Eye (#3 in the other list), #2 Dr.Melaxin Gifted Collagen, #3 medicube NAD+, #4 medicube PDRN Pink Collagen, #5 tarte summer skin essentials.
TikTok Shop best-sellers for 2026-W34, same platform and week, filtered two ways. K-beauty is 26% of all-beauty best-sellers and 50% of skincare-only ones; the #1 product flips too.

It is one of the most repeated numbers in beauty right now: K-beauty is such-and-such percent of TikTok Shop. It gets quoted in decks, headlines and investor notes as if it were a fixed fact. It isn't — and this week shows exactly why. On TikTok Shop, in the same seven days, K-beauty was 26% of the best-sellers. It was also 50%. Both are true. The only thing that changed was the category filter.

One platform, two denominators

Read TikTok Shop's All Beauty & Personal Care chart for 2026-W34 and Korean brands hold 26 of the top 100. Switch the filter to Skincare only — same platform, same week — and they hold 50 of 100. Nearly double, from one change: whether body wash, hair and fragrance are in the pool or not. A brand's "share of TikTok" is not one number; it's a number and a category, and skipping the second half quietly picks whichever figure tells the better story.

The #1 moves too

The same split flips the top seller. Across all beauty, number one is medicube's Smooth & Clear Body Care Set — a body-care set, with a fragrance right behind it at #2. Narrow to skincare and the leader is a different product entirely: Dr.Melaxin's Calcium Dark Spot Eye serum, which was sitting at #3 on the wider list. The all-beauty champion doesn't appear on the skincare chart at all, because it isn't skincare. Neither list is wrong; they answer different questions.

Always ask for the denominator

This is the first question we ask of every ranking on this site: what pool was it drawn from? A percentage or a #1 only means something once you know the category, the platform and the week behind it — change any one and the answer can move by half. It's why we label every chart with its exact scope, and why the honest way to show "K-beauty on TikTok" isn't a single hero number. It's both denominators, side by side, so you can watch the filter do the work.

Next time a slide says "K-beauty is X% of TikTok Shop," the only useful follow-up is the same one that runs this whole site: percent of what?

Receipt: every number above is checkable against the 2026-W34 archive · method on /methodology. Both lists are TikTok Shop best-seller rankings for the same week (2026-W34) and the same platform; only the category filter differs. "K-beauty share" = the portion of each 100-product chart whose brand is Korean-origin in our master brand list (26 of 100 on All Beauty, 50 of 100 on Skincare this week; brand-origin classification can move a count by a product or two at the margin). "All Beauty & Personal Care" includes body care, fragrance and tools alongside skincare; "Skincare" is the skincare-only view. Rankings are chart position, not units sold. TikTok Shop's Skincare category is newly tracked this week, so no week-over-week comparison is drawn. Live figures in the 2026-W34 weekly archive are canonical; the numbers here are a snapshot.
